My aunt, who will be 41 this year, just left her husband of 20 years. He is the worst excuse for a man I have ever seen in my life. No exaggeration. I am not being biased because she is my aunt, I am simply telling it like it is. They have two sons, one who is 18 and one who is 14. The 18 year old moved out on his 18th birthday - partially because his father does nothing but yell at them and make life miserable.
My aunt proclaimed the fact that “it has become WORK to be around” him - he did not understand why she was leaving. He asked her what he could do to fix it. IT HAS BEEN 20 YEARS, AND TWO CHILDREN LATER, AND YOU’RE JUST ASKING NOW WHAT YOU CAN DO TO FIX SOMETHING!? As the strong woman that she is, she looked at him, and simply said, “it’s too late”
He hugged her, kissed her, and told her he loved her. For the FIRST time in ONE AND A HALF YEARS.
I love my aunt like I should love my mother. I told her how PROUD I AM of her. That it may not feel right at this time, but she has to do what is BEST FOR HER. She has wanted this for years - and to see her finally do it, makes me love her even more. It takes a lot for someone to realize the truth. To stand on their own two feet and do what most people cannot - walk away.
